Bloxo receives a $25,000 investment at Volta Cohort Pitch

Saint Mary’s University Undergraduate student, Mubdu Alali, founder of Bloxo, participated in the Volta Cohort Pitch, where he was one of five entrepreneurs who received a $25,000 investment and acceptence into the Volta Cohort.

Atlantic Global Student Entrepreneurship Awards

Last week, four East Coast university students competed in the Atlantic Global Student Entrepreneurship Awards (GSEA), for a chance to win cash and prizes valued at nearly $100,000. Ross Arsenault, BComm’18, was named the local winner and will move on to compete against the world’s best student entrepreneurs at the Global Finals for a chance to win a $40,000 worth of cash and prizes, and the title of EO Global Student Entrepreneur.

Volta Online Booking

Saint Mary’s University students, faculty, and staff are now able to schedule a timeslot to work from Canada’s east coast innovation hub through our simple online booking platform. This space is great for working collaboratively and gaining exposure to Halifax startups.

Saint Mary’s University and the Sobey School of Business have received the largest gift to date, an $18 million philanthropic investment from members of the Sobey family.

Growth Matters

Growth Matters is a new coaching program offered by the SMUEC. We are offering coaching packages to select companies with growth potential to help them make decisions around how to approach new opportunities or deal with nagging problems.

Our coaches use a custom assessment, and coaching tools from Growth Wheel International, to move your business forward.

The Options Youth Program is an employment wage subsidy program, facilitated by the Saint Mary’s University Entrepreneurship Centre and funded by Service Canada. We provide a significant wage subsidy to employers to assist their hiring of priority youth in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

The objectives of Options Youth are to help employers cover the cost of training while helping priority youth (age 15-30) overcome multiple barriers to employment, and develop the skills and knowledge necessary to make a successful transition to the labour market or return to school.
